General Context
The Linggo ng Parangal is a week-long celebration, usually held during April or May, to recognize the outstanding performance of its faculty, research and extension professional staff (REPS), students, administrative staff, and the community. One of the highlights of Linggo ng Parangal is the awarding of the Gawad Tsanselor.
The Gawad Tsanselor is UP Diliman’s most prestigious distinction given annually to members of the UP Diliman community for performance excellence in various fields of University work such as teaching, research and creative work, extension, administration and student activities. The six (6) categories for the Gawad Tsanselor and the offices-in-charge per category are as follows:
The Gawad Tsanselor sa Natatanging Guro has been awarded since 1995. The award recognizes faculty members who have outstanding accomplishments, and consistently demonstrated honor and excellence, in teaching, research and public service.
For purposes of screening the nominees, the Chancellor assigns an Ad Hoc Committee with the Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs as the Chairperson. The other members of the committee are representatives of the different clusters and the OAT Director. The OAT serves as the secretariat of the Committee.
