Call for participants for the Teaching Effectiveness Course (TEC): Fundamentals of University Teaching
The Office for the Advancement of Teaching (OAT), under the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (OVCAA) would like to invite UP Diliman faculty members to participate in the Teaching Effectiveness Course (TEC) entitled “Fundamentals of University Teaching.” This face-to-face event will run from July 29 to 01 August 2024, with the venue details to be announced.The TEC is a 4-day (32 hours) introductory course on teaching and learning in higher education intended for new faculty members in the university, particularly those teaching at the undergraduate level. The course involves face-to-face workshops and opportunities for interaction with co-participants and facilitators. Learning is expected to be collaborative and experiential.All TEC sessions will start at 8:30 am and end at 5:00 pm. The TEC course is free of charge but pre-registration is required due to limited slots. We can only accommodate 50-60 participants on a first-come-first-served basis and priority will be given to those who are interested and committed to attend the entire 4-day training. Participants will be provided with lunch, snacks, and a course kit. A certificate will be awarded to those who will complete the 4-day course and submit the necessary requirements. SSC visits UPD for Benchmarking Activities
The Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dean, and Chairpersons of Graduate Studies program of Sulu State College (SSC) visited several UPD academic units for their benchmarking activity last May 21, 2024.
We are grateful to UP President Angelo A. Jimenez, Executive Vice President Jose Fernando T. Alcantara, Chancellor Edgardo Carlo L. Vistan II, Prof. Erwin Gaspar A. Alampay (College Secretary, NCPAG), Asst. Prof. Frances O. Magtoto (College Secretary, Educ), Assoc. Prof. Leonor E. Diaz (Division Head, DCI), Asst. Prof. Joel C. Javiniar (Division Head, DELPS), Prof. Ma. Nympha B. Joaquin and Asst. Prof. Crizel P. Sicat-De Laza (College of Education) for extending their warmest welcome and for supporting the efforts of the SSC faculty.

CCO visits OAT Diliman for Benchmarking Activities
The Faculty Administrators of City College of Ormoc (CCO) visited the Office for the Advancement of Teaching last March 19, 2024 for their benchmarking activities, focusing particularly on the implementation of the OBE framework in their curriculum.
The CCO team was represented by their College Administrator, Asst. College Administrator for Admin and Finance, Asst. College Administrator for Academic Affairs and Planning, Program Head, and Planning and Development Coordinator.

Pre-Workshop on Mapping and Charting Directions for Service-Learning in the University of the Philippines
The Office for the Advancement of Teaching, the UP System Ugnayan Ng Pahinungód, and the UP Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs express heartfelt gratitude to the administrators, faculty members, and REPS of the following eight University of the Philippines Constituent Universities and one Autonomous College for joining us in the Pre-Workshop on Mapping and Charting Directions for Service-Learning in the University of the Philippines.Special appreciation goes to the team from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, composed of the Head of the Service-Learning and Leadership Office (SLLO), Dr. Grace Ngai; former Head of the SLLO, Dr. Stephen Chan; and SLLO Project Manager, Mr. Sean Leung, for sharing their insights on service-learning and its institutionalization in their university.We also wish to thank Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs (Curriculum and Instruction), Dr. Ma. Theresa T. Payongayong; Director of the UP System Ugnayan ng Pahinungód, Dr. Marie Therese P. Bustos; Director of UP Cebu Ugnayan ng Pahinungód, Dr. Aurelio P. THE UP DILIMAN CENTENNIAL PROFESSORIAL CHAIRS AND FACULTY GRANTS
In recognition of the importance of advanced degree, research and creative work, and mentoring in the overall advancement of teaching in the University, the UP Diliman Centennial Professorial Chairs and Faculty Grants (1 January 2024 – 31 December 2024 Cycle) are now open for applications.The online application form may be accessed through: bit.ly/UPDcentennial2024 Faculty will need to use their UP webmail (@up.edu.ph) to log-in.To qualify, a regular faculty member must satisfy the following requirements:-
Have a doctoral degree¹;

Show proof of research or creative output; and
-
Show proof of mentoring².
The faculty member must submit one refereed³ research or creative output that came out from 1 January 2022 to 31 December 2023. Current holders of a privately-funded professorial chair or faculty grant equivalent to at least P10,000.00/month are not qualified for this cycle.
The application documents shall include the following:

Duly accomplished online application form.

Documentation of the mentoring, research, or creative output submitted for award consideration (to be uploaded in the application form); and

Accomplished endorsement form: 2024UPDCentennialEndorsement (to be uploaded in the online application form)
UP Diliman Centennial Professorial Chair and Faculty Grant awardees will receive Php 100,000.00 and Php 75,000.00, respectively.
