    In recognition of the importance of advanced degree, research and creative work, and mentoring in the overall advancement of teaching in the University, the UP Diliman Centennial Professorial Chairs and Faculty Grants (1 January 2025 – 31 December 2025 Cycle) are now open for submissions.

    SET Answering for Second Semester AY 2023-2024

    Please note that the Student Evaluation of Teaching (SET) Answering Module in the Computerized Registration System (CRS) will be open from May 6, 2024 – June 1, 2024 only. This applies to all units except the MBA and MS Finance programs of the Cesar E.A. Virata School of Business, the Master of Management (MM), and Master in Governance and Innovative Leadership (MGIL) programs of UPDEPP/O, PM-TMEM, and UPSA.

    Students may accomplish the SET by logging into their CRS accounts and clicking on the “SET Answering Module.” Those who fail to answer the SET will be tagged as “low priority” in the next term’s pre-enlistment, while the students in the MBA calendar who fail to answer the SET will be delayed for 1 hour in the next term’s real-time enlistment.

    Note that the evaluation of the teaching performance of teaching fellows and teaching associates (TFs/TAs) should also be conducted during the period stated above via CRS (if available).

  • Call for Participants for ONF 2023

    Call for Participants for ONF 2023

    Inviting and encouraging new full-time faculty members hired this 2023 to participate in this year’s Orientation for New Faculty (ONF) on 4-5 September 2023 from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm via Zoom.

    The orientation aims to (1) welcome the new faculty in the UPD community; (2) orient the new faculty on the academic and administrative policies;  and (3) provide a forum for initial questions. Please note that the event format was based on the results of the sensing form we sent to new faculty members last August 3, 2023. 

    Interested faculty members can register through this registration link https://bit.ly/ONF2023 using their UPMail accounts on or before 25 August 2023 (Friday). Due to limited slots, we can only accommodate 200-300 participants on a first-come-first-served basis.

    The results of the SET for AY 2022 – 2023 will be used for developmental purposes (e.g., improving online/remote teaching and learning) and for decision-making making purposes (e.g., faculty promotions, awards, tenure, and appointments.)

     

    We request all units to inform their faculty members regarding the online SET, and the faculty members, in turn, to actively encourage their students (both undergraduate and graduate) to accomplish the SET carefully and regularly.

    2023 Gawad Tsanselor sa Natatanging Guro Call for Nominations

     

    The primary criteria for the evaluation of the nominees are based on:

    • a 1,500-word statement of the nominee’s teaching philosophy (In ordinary and extraordinary times, what does it mean to be a UP professor?)
    • summary and evidence of milestone accomplishments in teaching, research, and public service that illustrate how the nominee’s teaching philosophy is practiced.

    The eligibility criteria for the 2023 Gawad Tsanselor sa Natatanging Guro award are as follows:

    • The nominee must be a tenured faculty member.
    • The nominee must not have been a recipient of the Gawad Tsanselor sa Natatanging Guro in the last three years (i.e., 2020, 2021 and 2022).
    •  Within AY 2019-2020 to AY 2021-2022, the nominee must have:
      • Rendered continuous teaching service in UP Diliman, with a teaching load credit (TLC) of at least six (6) units per semester for semestral programs or four (4) units per term for trimestral programs; and,
      • Obtained a weighted average SET score per term of 4.0 or better for AY 2021-2022 only.
    • Accomplished ANY one of the following:
      • Published an article in a refereed journal;
      • Published a refereed book published by a local/international academic publisher;
      • Published a refereed book chapter published by a local/international academic publisher;
      • Staged a juried exhibit/curated work in a local/international venue;
      • Staged a juried performance/creative work output staged in a local/international venue; or
      • Produced a patent/peer-reviewed design.
    • Rendered service to ANY of the following, for each academic year:
      • The University
      • The nation
      • The global community
    • Nominee must not have been found guilty of administrative or criminal offense. In case the nominee has a pending administrative or criminal case, there should be no adverse judgment/ruling with finality on said case at the time of the granting of the award.

      1. Cover letter by the nominating unit highlighting how the nominee satisfies the criteria;
      2. Duly accomplished nomination form; and
      3. Supporting documents for entries in the nomination form.

    The nomination form (in Word and pdf formats) is attached. Only submissions with complete attachments will be considered.

    The Student Evaluation of Teaching (SET) Answering Module in the Computerized Registration System (CRS) will be open from November 23, 2022 to December 21, 2022 only. This applies to all units except the MBA and MS Finance programs of the Cesar E.A. Virata School of Business, PM-TMEM and ASP.

    Students may accomplish the SET by logging into their CRS accounts and clicking on the “SET Answering Module.” Those who fail to answer the SET will be tagged as “low priority” in the next term’s pre-enlistment, while the students in the MBA calendar who fail to answer the SET will be delayed for 1 hour in the next term’s real-time enlistment.

    Please note that the evaluation of lecturers should also be done through CRS. In addition, the evaluation of the teaching performance of teaching fellows and teaching associates (TFs/TAs) should also be conducted during the period stated above via CRS (if available).

    For TFs and TAs who do not have a CRS account, kindly ask the students to accomplish
