Call for participants for the Teaching Effectiveness Course (TEC): Fundamentals of University Teaching

The Office for the Advancement of Teaching (OAT) would like to invite UP Diliman faculty members to participate in the Teaching Effectiveness Course (TEC): Fundamentals of University Teaching. This face-to-face event will be held on July 24, 25, 28, and 29, 2025 at the UP Institute for Small-Scale Industries.

The Fundamentals of University Teaching is an introductory course on teaching and learning in higher education intended for new or early-career faculty members in the university, particularly those teaching at the undergraduate level. The principles, strategies, and examples that will be shared are expected to apply across disciplines and modes of instruction applicable in the blended learning context.

The TEC intends to reach out to new and seasoned UPD faculty members, teaching assistants, and lecturers who wish to upgrade or enhance their teaching competencies. This is UP Diliman’s answer to the challenge of the times – nurturing a body of academics who are aware of and intent on sustaining the University’s tradition of excellence.

We would greatly appreciate it if you could help us identify faculty members who will greatly benefit from this course. Please help us cascade the information about the schedule to your faculty so that those interested could calendar the activity.

All TEC sessions will start at 8:00 am and end at 5:00 pm. The TEC course is free of charge but pre-registration is required due to limited slots. We can only accommodate 60 participants on a
first-come-first-served basis and priority will be given to those who are interested and committed to attend the entire 4-day training. Participants will be provided with lunch, snacks, and a course kit. A
certificate will be awarded to those who will complete the 4-day course and submit the necessary requirements. A performance report will be forwarded to the head of the unit at the end of the program.

Participants/Faculty members who have decided to commit to participate and finish the course can register through this link: bit.ly/TECjuly2025 on or before 7 July 2025 (Monday). The provisional program is attached for your reference. For questions and clarifications, please contact the Office for the Advancement
of Teaching at ovcaa.oatdiliman@up.edu.ph (ATTN: Ms Yani and Ms Beq VoIP 2562).
